I am always amazed at how diverse weddings are (it’s part of what I love so much about shooting them), and I find that venues are equally diverse, and all appealing for different reasons. I figured I’d share some of the wedding venues in Kamloops and BC with you. This year I saw everything from golf courts, to gorgeous private residences and familiar Kamloops venues that many of you will recognize. Because I am only taking on a dozen or so weddings a year I thought I’d showcase some of the venues from 2014 as well (more pretty places for you to look at!). Over the last couple of years I’ve started taking some time at each reception to photograph the venue at night. Be it a local hotel, or a reception set under a tent with mini lights, lit buildings at night (or at dusk) have a beautiful mystery about them that I enjoy capturing. You’ll see what I mean below, there are a few of them posted below 🙂
Looking for a venue for your wedding? There are so many options open to you, and many variations of what works of a couple’s wedding day. I hope this helps you explore some possibilities, and help you find your perfect locations, or at least gives you some direction on where to start looking!!!
This wedding in the stunning Bulkley Valley, was set on a hilltop just outside Smithers, BC. Oh the views!!! The custom log home was gorgeous too!!! It doesn’t hurt to talk about looking for potential places… you never know what stunning places will reveal themselves!!
The log home at night… gorgeous isn’t it?Our next stop is Pitt Meadows, BC. Yay for traveling for work!!! My journeys in 2015 took me around the province, it was so great!! The Meadow Gardens Golf Club is a beautiful golf course, and beautiful for weddings too. Even the flowers blooming on the course coordinated with this stunning RCMP wedding!
Ever heard of Horse Lake? If you live close to 100 Mile House, BC, you probably have. This gem of a wedding was a bit off the beaten path on a rustic and enchanting piece of property. SO beautiful and such a perfect location for this couple!!!
And absolutely, tents at sunset are romantic too! Being lakeside with that lovely sky helped too!!
This groom’s family has a ranch in Clinton, so a ranch wedding for this cowboy was exactly perfect for this couple. Between the stellar location and the amazing amount of planning and effort that went into the decor at this DIY wedding, it was a feast for the eyes!
I’ve photographed a couple weddings out at Grandview Acres in the Knutsford hills of Kamloops. I love shooting out in this area (so many gorgeous little nooks and rolling fields for photos) and the Grandview Acres property is no exception!
Hotel 540 in downtown Kamloops is gorgeous, perfect for the bride who is looking for an elegant wedding. Both the ceremony space and the reception rooms are modern and sophisticated. As you can see from the fourth photo (the night shot) they know how to turn things up for the reception party too!!!! On top of that, this bride had nothing but praise for the coordinator who took care of her both before the wedding and on the day itself… exceptional service!!
Every year I shoot at least one wedding out at Rainbows Roost. Oh, my goodness!! From the awesome catered food by Nourishing Gourmet to the beautiful property and the lovely owners who run the whole thing, it’s always a treat to shoot out here!! The reception hall is also pretty enough to be a perfect indoor ceremony location if the weather doesn’t behave!
And Rainbow’s Roost is oh-so-pretty at night too!The Coast Hotel in Kamloops has multiple rooms that are fabulous for receptions, including this ballroom. As far as I know, it’s one of the biggest wedding venues in town, accommodating up to 550 people. It could be the perfect place for your big wedding!
There is something beautifully intimate about an elopement, and if you are considering the Okanagan for your elopement, I highly recommend checking out Sanctuary Gardens in West Kelowna. SUCH a gorgeous and intimate venue, and incredibly picturesque.
Quails’ Gate Winery is the perfect pairing to Sanctuary Gardens for an elopement. Again, gorgeous scenery. SO much about West Kelowna is beautiful!
The Watermark Beach Resort in Osoyoos seems to be a very popular destination wedding resort. Right in the heart of wine country and lake country, it’s gorgeous and unforgettable. The resort itself is fantastic, and world class wineries are a short 10 minute limo drive away. I’ve found that many of the wineries are happy to accommodate wedding photos as long as they are asked ahead of time.
Tinhorn Creek and Road 13 were two of our stops for photos on this wedding day!
We have quite a few golf courses around the Kamloops area (or at least it seems like it to me anyways, haha), and a few of them have pretty spectacular wedding views! The Dunes is one of those courses. Beautiful!!!! They have a pretty awesome reception room with lovely big windows and balconies too, and when you add the amazing photo op spots around the property it’s pretty much a one-stop shop for your wedding day.
Sometimes, though the best choice for your wedding is in your own backyard… or your parents’! So pretty right? And the girls just stepped out the door and around a corner to get to the ceremony… pretty convenient!!
A well known reception venue in Kamloops is the Colombo Lodge. I LOVE the windows in this room, and I love all the space too! That is one dancing floor that is just asking for a party to happen. As you can see from this photo, draping the ceiling in this place creates quite a statement!!
St. Andrews on the Square is a beautiful little church rich in Kamloops history, and another really great wedding venue. So quaint, and so pretty. Located right in downtown Kamloops this little gem is quite popular.
Located only 40 minutes from Kamloops, the Quaaout Lodge is another spectacular place to have your wedding, especially if views are important to you for both your ceremony and your photos. This place is gorgeous any time of the year, and it’s another place that is popular as a destination wedding location!!
