There is something so amazingly intimate about an elopement. Just the couple, two of their closest friends, the officiant and their photographer. So much time to just be in the moment and let the beauty of it all soak in. Seriously simple and peaceful and beautiful!! This stunning elopement in Kamloops BC on a beautiful summer morning was perfection… all the feels, all the laughter, and all the time in the world to just be.
The original plan was to have the ceremony on a bluff overlooking the lake, but it has been a long summer of brutal forest fires and completely smoked in skies, so Jen and Paul decided to go with Plan B and have the ceremony in their back yard. And I now have a MASSIVE case of backyard envy…. what an incredible, INCREDIBLE space, all overgrown ivy and tiered gardens and massive trees and amazing light. AND, the smoke happened to lift up out of our valley the morning of their wedding and the light, as you can see in the photos, was perfection!
Big weddings are a ton of fun full of the couple’s family and friends, big moments and high emotions that carry you away with them while you (aka me) laugh and cry right along with everyone else, but there is truly a specialness about an elopement, still the moments and the high emotions, still I laughed with them and maybe shed a couple tears (I usually do haha) but there is a different feeling of being privy to something private and special that I LOVE. Like many elopement couples this year, these two are planning on having a big reception when covid restrictions lift and all their people can travel, and they’re getting the best of both, the small intimate ceremony and the loud fun party. SO great!!
I met everyone in Jen and Paul’s gorgeous back yard, and after we took full advantage of the beauty of it in photos we headed into a local park for the rest of their photos. Such an amazing day, congratulations again Jen and Paul!!!! May you enjoy a lifetime of joy and love!!!! 💕
