Every word I can think of to describe Alyssa and Tyler’s wedding can be summed up just by looking at this first photo… Radiant Joy. Beautiful. Elegant. Magical. Abundant love. Romantic. Sweet. Sincere. Emotional. Softly lit. Perfection. Gorgeous details. Breathtaking. This stunning Quaaout Lodge wedding had it all, to be honest.
I arrived at the venue just in time to witness the groom and all his groomsmen jump off the dock into the lake to properly wake up and shake off the festivities of the previous night. Pretty sure it worked too, they were all in pretty high spirits post-swim!! This wedding morning was a serene one, everyone enjoying the start of the day and all the prep that goes into getting ready for the big event. After shoes were laced up and that gorgeous dress was on, Alyssa and Ty met in the forest for an emotional first look. The expression on Ty’s face as he had his first glimpse of his bride to be said it ALL, it was awesome! They specifically asked to have their first look a bit of a distance apart so Ty could see the full effect, and the speed at which he ran for Alyssa to embrace her was epic and hilarious… he couldn’t wait to have her in his arms (I know, they write books about this stuff, lol). The bride wore a cathedral veil, which made me so happy… those are so much fun to play with as a photographer!! They add another soft touch of romance to the photos… sigh… although this day was already pretty dang romantic, even without it! After spending some time alone (okay and with me, my assistant and the videographer, but ALMOST alone) the bridal party came and found us in the forest.
These two have surrounded themselves with a really great tribe of people, a wedding party that was both gorgeous to look at and really, really easy to like!! They were up for whatever I asked of them, traipsing around the forest and through sand to the water’s edge.
The ceremony took place at my favourite spot on the Quaaout grounds, one surrounded by trees and with a sweeping view of Shuswap Lake. There were sniffles. There was laughter. There were tender moments and hilarious ones. Everyone walked across the expanse of lawn from the lodge to the ceremony site, and while it’s a bit of a long walk, it’s a pretty epic one, one where there is time for the guests to truly appreciate the moment and the gorgeous bride, and, again, the look on Tyler’s face pretty much says it all. I had previously met with the couple in their hometown of Vancouver for their engagement session so I was familiar with how smitten they both are, but still I was teary eyed.
The reception was one I actually didn’t want to leave, everyone was having so much fun, and the energy was so high it was fantastic!! Common Sound really knows how to rock a dance floor and keep it in high gear all night!!
I should mention, too, that Alyssa designed all of the wedding stationery suite, and it looked amazing. She’s started her own business creating these works of art actually, you can find her website link at the bottom with the other wedding vendors 🙂
Congratulations again Alyssa and Ty… it was an honour and a pleasure to be there to document your wedding day!!!!!!! xo
