Sarah + Max were married on Sarah’s family’s ranch in 150 Mile House, BC.  What a gorgeous piece of heaven that area is!!  And what a beautiful couple, inside and out, these two are, too.  How they feel for each other is easy to see, and just radiates even from their photos,  it was a pleasure to document their wedding!!

I also love that three generations of women have worn Sarah’s dress… there’s something extra special about the heritage of that.

In Sarah + Max’s own words:

Describe the vision/theme you had for your wedding in 5 words or less
:
Sarah: Personal, quirky, country, casual, eco friendly
Max: Country, Quirky, Timeless, Natural, Tasteful

Favorite moment(s) of your wedding day…
Sarah: Driving in on my tractor, Uncle Raymond’s flower drop, making people laugh
Max: First Dance, Sarah climbing a tree

 Best wedding related decision:
Max: Marrying Sarah! And having it on the ranch.
Sarah: Having it at home. We were going to do a destination- so glad we didn’t. Community came together unbelievably  and everything was so beautiful and so personal.

Favorite detail:
Max: Burlap and Bowties! Oh, and our please don’t feed the bears sign.
Sarah: Our goat and the flowers- tiger lilies!

Advice for future couples
:
Sarah: Keep it fun and trust the people around you. Learn to delegate and ask for help!
Max: Plan a wedding where things dont have to be perfect, and things will be perfect.

Would you change anything if you could do it all over again?
Sarah: Writing up a much better list for the MC. We had games and prizes and didn’t get to hand out the prizes because we were unorganized, which is really too bad.
Max: Keep track of the bowtie we lost… we had to borrow the goat’s for a groomsman! (Good thing we had one for the goat!)

Best surprise of the day:
Sarah: THE FLOWER DROP. And the slide show, but that wasn’t as much of a surprise.
Max: Flower drop. And the quality of the food. We knew it would be good, but it was really good.

Wedding Songs: For the ceremony, we wanted it to be funny and romantic. We used Vitamin String Quartet for everything, so even though we had an odd mix of songs they all matched. We were a bit different in that the groomsmen came in to one song, the groom to another, then the bridesmaids and bride. We had lovey dovey prelude music- Yellow (coldplay cover), Lucky (Jason Mraz cover), etc etc. Then the groomsmen marched in to the Imperial March, from Star Wars, which was funny 🙂 Max came in to a Five for Fighting cover, 100 Years. The girls came out to an Elton John cover, Your Song- and the Bride to the VSQ cover of Love Story by Taylor Swift 🙂 We signed the paperwork during the ceremony to a good friend of ours playing the guitar and singing “All You Need Is Love” (a recording, he was too shy to do it in person) and then we walked out to the VSQ cover of “Another One Bites The Dust”, which also got a few chuckles!

Other thoughts:
Max: Just find the right person. And then don’t be a coward about it. Also, my wife has cute ears!

One view of the ceremony site from further down the driveway.

Even moments before the wedding Sarah was still calm and collected, and ready to get on with it!!

Haven’t ridden in the flatbed of a pickup truck for awhile 🙂

Best choreographed first dance ever!!

And the night ended in an awesome lightshow… I was pretty excited when I captured this strike with my camera!
