One of the first things I noticed about Judy and Tom is that they are so very relaxed and comfortable with each other and I love how that shows in their photos! This Kamloops winter wedding was a lovely, quiet, intimate affair, a gathering of the couple’s closest family and friends. The atmosphere was one of laid back celebration, and Judy and Tom really wanted the focus to be on the people who were there to celebrate with them. We took a few minutes to brave the cold (-12°C) for outdoor photos. brrrr… but so pretty and totally worth it!
The couple chose historic St. Andrews on the Square in downtown Kamloops as their ceremony venue. It’s beautiful any time of year, but there is definitely a certain magical quality in the winter. Snow just softens and romanticizes any landscape and this quaint church is no exception. One benefit of having a wedding here so close to Christmas is that all the in-house decorations were still up, including a Christmas tree and beautiful windowsill vignettes. Judy is a creative gal and she added many of her own touches that polished everything off to perfection!
After the church we headed over to Hoodoos restaurant at the Sun Rivers Golf Course for the reception dinner. The couple wanted one long table set along the windows so both side of their family could mingle and celebrate together. Hoodoos has a gorgeous twilight view, and with the reflections in the windows there were twinkling little points of light everywhere… and incredible atmosphere!! (And oh so fun to photograph!)
What a fantastic segue into a new year of weddings!!! Happy 2016 everyone!!
