I honestly have been sitting here, gazing at this collection of photo that represent such a beautiful love, at a loss at where to start with words. Erin and Josh are seriously one of the most down to earth, kind hearted, sweet, easy going, not to mention beautiful, couples, and it was such a privilege to document their intimate wedding festivities! The day of their wedding was a rainy one, not the kind of drizzling rain you can still get out in and duck the raindrops, but that downpour kind of rain you wait out from the indoors. We had a couple breaks in the deluge, and while we made time to get a few portraits of them, they really wanted to focus on photographing their families, only taking time for themselves for a first look and then with whatever rain-less moments were left. The original plan was to head to a nearby mountain meadow for the ceremony, but the wedding day weather decided on Plan B, which was a lovely little covered area just big enough to accommodate the whole wedding. Perfect. They had been pretty excited about a wedding in the mountains though, and by the time I drove the hour from my home to theirs that morning I decided to offer a separate session after the wedding so we could take the time to wander the hills and create beautiful portraiture for them. It was a GREAT decision, and we found some epic locations 🙂 Enjoy browsing through just a few of the moments of this intimate BC summer wedding <3
These two smile a LOT at each other. So much joy!! As soon as the rain let up we ducked outside for the first look and a few portraits… Erin’s parents have the most romantic little circular garden area EVER, perfect for both the first look and the first dances. I kind of wish this was MY little garden area, lol.
Not a whole lot of seriousness happened this day…. even the family photos were the most fun ever. So glad they decided to focus on these, these are some hilarious people together. Impromptu dance parties for the win!
As the rain clouds rolled back in behind me we raced over to Erin and Josh’s place for a few quick photos. Can you believe this is their font yard? Yeah, I’m always amazed how picturesque the little community of Barriere is. SO PRETTY. And cathedral veils?? Probably my new favourite thing!
As much as this was their Plan B, the tree wrapped little alcove was actually really snug and intimate. And really, love like this makes any location magical 🙂
These guys spent a lot of time putting lights in the ivy wall and the hedges for the first dances, and happily for us the rain didn’t come back after dinner. We waited for dusk and headed outdoors for the dances. It was pretty much perfect!!
The one shot we didn’t get on the wedding day before the rain started was in the barn, so that’s where we started for their Rock the Frock session. How amazing is this barn anyways?? Afterwards we took their ATV out into the mountain wilderness that is their family property. Everywhere we turned was somewhere else beautiful to shoot in, it was truly spectacular. I LOVE adventuring out in the middle of nowhere with my clients and I was all over this adventure. I mean, the sweeping views of the valley, the green lushness of everything, I was in heaven :). Even the sun made a quick appearance before it set. I am all about making the most of whatever a wedding day sends our way, but sometimes, every once in awhile, you just have to concede that nature has won a round and work it out a different day… and this session was so very worth it!!!!!
Erin and Josh….. you two are amazing, and I wish you all the happiness in the world as you journey through life together!!!!!! xo
