Engagement Sessions
I am a Kamloops, British Columbia engagement and wedding photographer. As you can see in the photos here, I’m used to photographing in many different locations, lighting situations and weather conditions. I’ve been a professional photographer since 2006 and have learned along the way how to work with and take advantage of pretty much any situation! Over the years I’ve added my own lighting to natural, outdoor sessions if needed, or if we’re going for more drama.
If you’re looking for a photographer whose images are unique, creative and high quality, drop me a line and we’ll talk about what you need and what I can do for you!
Engagement Session Locations in Kamloops
I moved to the sagebrush, rolling hills and desert of Kamloops from the forests and mountains of northern British Columbia over a decade ago and immediately fell in love with the landscape. (And the weather, but that’s a different conversation, lol).
I am constantly amazed at the varied landscapes around here, pretty much anything you could want (except the ocean) are just a short drive away. We have the spectacular sage and golden grass covered hills of the Lac Du Bois grasslands, forests, lakes, sandy rivershores, tons of meandering pathways and hiking trails, the stunning alpine meadows at Sun Peaks, just to name a few. I’ve lived here for over a decade and I’m STILL finding new beautiful places to shoot.
Vancouver and Lower Mainland Engagement Sessions
Lots of my couples are having destination weddings in the Kamloops are, but live in Vancouver and Calgary.
When I’m asked to come to their home city or town for the engagement session it’s always a YES!
I love to travel, and also love shooting in new locations, so you’ll see photos of the Kamloops area as well as Sun Peaks, the Okanagan, downtown Vancouver, Stanley Park, Kitsilano, Jericho Beach, Spanish Banks, False Creek ,Hope, the Othello Tunnels and more.
Engagement Session Tips
When you’re deciding when to get your engagement session photos done, maybe consider getting them done at a different time of year than your wedding. Having a winter wedding? Complement that with a spring or summer engagement session. If your wedding is going to be at a wintery ski resort in the mountains, how about a warm fall engagement session in the evening to take advantage of the beautiful evening golden hour sunshine.
Spring and autumn are my favourite times of year for engagement photos. There’s something magical about the fresh new green of spring, and all incredible spring blooms (especially cherry blossom festival in Vancouver… spectacular!!!!!) that are SO great for shooting in. And don’t even get me started on fall sessions… the colors, the light, the warm evenings… amazing!!
Why Engagement Sessions are Beneficial
I take a relaxed, pretty chill approach to engagement sessions, and encourage couples to their authentic selves for the session. Are you playful and always laughing and joking around? Do you love holding each other close and soaking in those romantic moments? Are you adventure seekers and want to hike somewhere? Or do you love being at home together? However you are together, let’s capture THAT!!!! It’s always different and always incredible to photograph love.
In addition to that, a great relationship with your photographer and a feeling of being comfortable with a camera in your face will both go a long way towards even more amazing wedding photos! Most people have spent very little time in front of a camera, and it can be an intimidating experience. By the end of the session you’ll feel way more comfortable and confident getting your photo taken. An engagement session is also a fantastic way for you and your photographer to get to know each other, so by your wedding you’ll feel more like you’re being photographed by a new friend! win-win!
