I seriously get to work with the best couples, and these two are no exception! Emily and Curtis came from Alberta with their friends and family for their wedding celebrations in BC’s incredibly picturesque Shuswap region, and it was an honor to document their Quaaout Lodge wedding. Their day was picture perfect, rather like the couple themselves. Emily is as beautiful on the inside as the outside, and I think Curtis has one of the best laughs ever! There’s one photo below at the reception where his head is thrown back and I can hear him laugh. Their day was one of laughter, sweet moments, and the intimacy of a destination wedding with your favorite people.
These photos are a snippet of their wedding story, and I’ve asked them for a little bit of their love story….
How did you two meet? We met at a local bar in town. I saw him and was hoping he would notice me.. but after waiting awhile I knew I’d have to make the first move! When I finally got the courage to introduce myself, it turned out he already knew who I was, and that I worked at the radio station!
What were your first impressions of each other?
Emily: It’s embarrassing to admit, but the moment I saw him I told my girlfriends “That’s my future husband!” I thought he was good looking… clearly, since for the first time in my life I actually made the first move! and once I talked to him I could tell he had a really positive and fun demeanor.
Curtis: Very first impression was “Wow, this little lady is beautiful and she’s talking to me? This must be a set up!” My first impression started before that though, when I “creeped” her picture on the YL website, and her picture caught my eye. That impression lasted a long time, and as we got to know each other her sense of humour matched her beauty, and it seemed like she moved to Peace River just to meet me!
How did Curtis propose? We went to a friend’s wedding in Victoria, and the day after the wedding Curtis took me on a “romantic photo shoot” at the beach. I had my suspicions… and turns out they were right! Curtis got down on one knee and it was all caught on camera!
Favorite Moments:
Emily: My favorite moment was my dad walking me down the aisle, and the moment Curtis and I saw each other. I couldn’t help but start giggling because I was so excited! The whole day was just perfect.
Curtis: My favorite moment was when I saw my beautiful bride walking down the aisle with her father. I Couldn’t help but think she’s the most beautiful person in the world. (And all mine!?)
