BC Ski Resort Wedding
There is so much to say about this stunning, intimate, humour-filled Sun Peaks wedding that I almost don’t know where to start. Pamela and Morgan both love to ski and snowboard, so for them having a winter wedding just made sense. As Morgan put it during their engagement session, it was them in their natural habitat. With that in mind, they decided a ski down the hill in their full wedding regalia was on the “must do” list, and so we did. Pamela really wanted photos in the forest (yay for winter forests!!) and we found the perfect little forest that was accessible even for slippery groom shoes (with a little help from his friends, lol). I love it when couples embrace the sense of adventure, it’s always worth it!! We knew the ski adventure would make a mess of Pam’s hair, so she arranged for the amazingly talente Laine Dagneau to come back for a second hair and make up look before the ceremony.
Pam warned me when we first met that Morgan is seldom serious for very long, and you’ll see evidence of that in some of these photos. He has a big personality and it was great fun to watch it escaping during photos that we were, for the most part, romantic. I had to be on my game to catch some of the antics, lol.
Their wedding was a super intimate affair with a guest list that included only their families and closest friends. With that in mind, these two decided to find a slightly unconventional wedding venue, something smaller that would fit their wedding vision. The result? This beautiful log post and beam chalet… and it was the perfect backdrop for their casual, relaxed day. An extra perk? They spent the whole long weekend there, so everything they needed was all in one location. Brilliant!
For the ceremony everything was kept super chill and casual, no formal seating, the guests mingling and getting to know each other, and a gorgeous fireplace as a backdrop to the ceremony. Uptown Chefs catered the event, and had a steady stream of delectable food for the guests to enjoy. Oh, my goodness was it ever amazing!! Such variety and everything, and I mean everything, looked and tasted absolutely amazing!!
Pam hired Renee of Wild Sage Events to coordinate the wedding, and I was reminded yet again how much of a stress relief it is for brides to have someone else taking are of all those little details on the wedding day. On top of being an amazing coordinator, Renee is a lovely human being, and exactly the right kind of person for this work. So much fun to work with her!!
The Chalet is gorgeous, and one of the first things Pamela said was that she wanted a photo of them on the balcony at night. Lucky for me, there is a ski run that goes right by the street below and I had an easily accessible vantage point to get the photo.
Every wedding day presents me with a couple unexpected gifts. One gift of this day was finding this frozen, water covered shrub while hunting for a spot to photograph the rings. This shrub happens to be right below the dripping eaves and the falling water built up in frozen wraps around the branches. Super cool!
